WeWork Ends Honor-System Snack Program Because No One Was Honest

It seems honesty is not the best policy

Faltering tech giant WeWork has another minor embarrassment on its hands — the company is eliminating all of its honor system snack kiosks, as part of the company’s frantic attempts to reduce its spending, having apparently lost major control of its finances. The unspoken message behind the decision to eliminate the so-called “Honesty Markets” (a truly cringeworthy name) is that people were stealing from them.

The moral of the story here: stealing is bad, and nice things will be taken away from you if you do it. After all, you don’t get something for nothing — unless you’re WeWork founder Adam Neumann, who managed to juice $1.7 billion out of the company while it prepares for massive layoffs. That’ll teach ‘em.
