Hi there, coming to you a day late again, thanks to the Jewish holiday season, which officially wrapped up yesterday. Over these past few weeks I’ve done a good amount of eating at home and in other people’s homes, so I can’t tell you how excited I am to get back out there and grab a meal, or even just a drink, out — even though it will cost me more money, I won’t have to do the dishes.

And with that, on to things to buy! Especially since we are quickly approaching that holiday gifting season — sorry to jump the gun, but truly, gift guides are coming sooner than you’d think. Watch this space, obviously.

Things to buy

• These speckled plates caught my eye a while back, inspiring me to seek out terrazzo-print dishes, like these terrazzo plates from West Elm (on sale!).
• I’m dying to go to NYC’s newest Champagne-focused bar, the Riddler, a spinoff of the San Francisco original. In the meantime, I’ll settle for some merch, including the Riddler enamel pins.
• If you’re serious about making sushi at home (or know someone who is), consider Korin’s electric seaweed warmer, which perfectly crisps your nori.
• As I’ve previously noted, instant coffee has been enjoying a makeover as third-wave roasters like Intelligentsia and Joe take a stab at the much-maligned category. The latest entrant: Counter Culture’s instant coffee pouches, which basically work like tea bags and result in a fine cup of coffee, like a slightly watered-down French press (or as one of my Eater co-workers put it, “Tastes like Keurig, but without the environmental devastation”). Things to know

• Tilit, maker of those restaurant-industry-favorite jumpsuits I still really want, has a new line called Tilit Supply, which comprises “practical wardrobe essentials at a lower price point,” including these intriguing snap henleys.
• Another new product line for your radar: Momofuku has announced a collection of seasoned salts, “our answer to 10 years of flavor research in the Momofuku culinary lab, available in savory, spicy, and tingly.” I’m super intrigued by “tingly,” which is flavored with Sichuan peppercorns.
• If you’re not already reading Curbed’s signature design column, House Calls, I highly recommend you start. A recent one featuring Seattle chef Renee Erickson caught my eye, but really they’re all so good (and addictive and envy-inducing).
• Eater published its latest international travel guide on Wednesday, a colorful exploration of Melbourne, and one of the clear highlights are the snacks. As my colleague (and resident Aussie) Adam Moussa writes, “Skip the kitschy trinkets and bring home edible souvenirs instead,” like Cheezels, Shapes, and Hundreds & Thousands biscuits. Luckily, some of it can be found outside Australia, thanks to that wonder called the internet.
